I have a bad short in my 96 Chevy 1/2 ton truck. Looking for a fourm that could offer me some help finding it. I have replaced the alternator as suggested in a eairler post but it still runs the battery down.

I just use a test light, remove the neg. cable, stick the test light between the cable and and the neg. terminal, then remove the fuses as has been suggested. i once had the glove box light staying on...only found that after i shut off the garage lights at night.

This may already have been suggested. Try using an ampmeter. Disconnect the neg battery terminal. Check the current draw. Remove fuses one by one from the fuse block. At the point where the current draw stops, that should be the circuit that is causing the trouble. That will narrow it down somewhat. On more than one vehicle, the radio has been the problem for us. Hope this helps.

Be sure to have your battery checked. I bought a new one at Wal-mart. It didn't last 2 months , it had a shorted cell.
