Hi Gang;
As you ALL "hated" that Chinese tractor, well here is a quality Japanese tractor. These Kubotas have been here for around 18 months, and are well built pieces of tractor. They hav'nt broken into the farm market in a big way yet, but the Councils love them - just like the compacts which have proved to be very reliable.
There are 3 models from 85 to 105HP 4cyl & 5cyl diesel engines, all 4wd, with cabs & aircon. The loader is badged Kubota. You have them in the US now and one farmer I know is delighted with his.
Any comments ?
David

Got a BX2200 for a few years now. Run the little thing hard with out any problems - tough as can be. Fuel, oil changes and filters that's it - oh 1 light bulb.

Some one told me the loader was USA built but not sure ?

Deere needs to wake up as their price/performance just isn't their. Liked the Case IH stuff but now its Fiat along with Ford.

Just doesn't seem like the US tractors are doing well

Yes, they're well made tractors, but they break the same as anything else when they're made to work.
They don't fit what I do, and probably most of your market because they lack a lot of weight to keep mounted impliments under control.
If I believed their theory to be true I could slap a 105 hp 268T engine in my 3930, add more rubber and a little assist ram to the lift arms and I'd about have the guts of that tractor....
Alas, it doesn't work, and when they're worked like that, they break too.
Used as a light utility, they last quite well.
There's a few guys around here buying them now because they're cheap. They've found out that clutches don't majically last longer with orange paint. Neither do front axles.... or brakes.
They're just a tractor as far as I'm concerned. No better, no worse.

I've had an M6800 with the LA1301S loader for 6 years and it has been the best all around tractor I have ever owned. I'm looking forward to many more years of good service from mine as my neighbor bought one just like it at the same time (after suffering through a host of New Holland transmission problems) and has about 2500 hrs on it and has absolutely abused the living daylights out of it.

I bought an old Kubota with loader that was worn out in a chicken house. It's still going. Not a direct injection so cold natured. A lot of equipment dealers here are adding Kubotas to their line and in some cases dropping their other line and going to Kubotas.

I have used M8200 Kubota's for 8 years now, they get the job done easily, with a reasonable amount of fuel, and so far,any time we traded them in on another lease jobbie,we always priced the green ones, the green was about 5-10 000 (5510's and 20's) more green than the orange ones.lol

I've had experience with Deeres, New Hollands and Kubotas. If I were going into any kind of business that required one of these types of tractors, it would be a Kubota, hands down. I know that you'll get the occasional person not satisfied with a Kubota, but putting traditional color preferences aside, an objective appraisal will just shout "Kubota!" Not trying to start a war, but comparing apples to apples (read that like model to like model), the Kubota is a far better piece of equpment than a Deeere or NH.

the u.s. manufactures built better tractors 40 years ago than any one does now, including the u.s. manufacturers!

They are fine machines. I have three of them, a deere and a NH. The oldest Kubota and the Deere are the same age, about 10 years old. In the 10 years we've had them the kubota has never been back to the dealer, we've never done anything to it except change the fluids and filters. It even has the original battery. The Deere which is the exact same size and HP has been back to the Deere dealer about every two years and we've probably spent between $4,000-$5,000 on it in repairs. The Kubota actually gets worked harder. The die hard green bleeders (I used to be one) need to open up their eyes and realize there is more out there besides green and yellow.

If I were buying a new utility tractor up to 50 horse or so, I'd buy one. They don't cost as much as the Deere, and the Deere use Yanmar engines for most of their small ones anyway.

They are in fact good tractors David. The downside comes to play when they need repair.
I just finished helping a neighbor overhaul his. The parts are very expensive.
The one we worked on is several years old. We cound not get sets of anything. You bought rings by the piston...not a complete set. The rod and main berings were the same way...each, not by the set.
The parts were so costly he nearly gave up on it several times...but we have it finished now.
It still has a weak starter on it...but they wanted over 600 dollars for a new one. If its hard to start cold...he just has someone pull him.
Its cheaper that way. Just hope he never kills it in the winter in the field spreading cow flop.

Kubotas cost more than John Deeres.

I have a B6100 HST Kubota that was bought new sometime in the late 70s and it is still going strong. It has a woods L59 belly mower on it. It was originally owned byt Grandpas cousin who used his equip very hard. Grandpa Got it when Warren died and he cut 3 acres of yard with it for almost 20 years when He died. I have it now and use it onec every 2 weeks to cut big yards/lots around town. Have only had to replace the plastic fuel bowl and belt and hoses. Grandpa had a nice 1965 Cub lowboy he sold when he got this one. I wish he kept the cub, I was skeptical about the Kubotoa when he got it, but it has proven itself.

Sounds like a bad luck tractor. Everybody who has owned it has died!

Yeah, but they were both in their 90s when they passed. I am 46 so I figure I will have it till I am in my 90s if the price of parts doesn't kill me first.

They've been around for at least 20 yrs. or more. I don't recall seeing any being sold for parts or scrap. Very reliable and hard working machines.

The models David is referring to hasen't been on the US market for 20 years but the smaller ones have been. New nightmares for the US tractor manufacturers but how many are still really US owned?

Kubota (my opinion) represents the finest philosophy of manufacturing. Utilize the best ideas, make it operate for a very long time, make it so the kids will inhearit it, make it so it feels right, provide parts rapidly, and sell it for a modest profit.
The element missing in John Deere, CaseIH-NH, etal, since the late 60s. JimN

Kubotas are becoming quite common in the Midwest US also. Very durable and popular loader and utility tractors. Dealer says once they're sold, they seldom come back for repairs.

Kubota is a very good engine and so are their machines. They used to be (probably still are) the number one selling compact tractor. They also make compact construction equipment and believe they are the biggest selling compact excavators. Kubota engines are used in a lot of North American equipment. Dave

Okay, so the japanese make a tractor. All machines have their good and bad points. Are we gonna discuss Chevy vs Ford next? The real question here is do you want to buy American goods or foriegn goods? If you run a kabota, you probably drive a toyota. SOON - we're all eatin' rice cake for supper!
