Probably 1300 acres per year:)
Really though, the 300 is a great machine, but small. Around here $500 would be about right for a decent one. Older combines don`t seem to hold their value well, especially the smaller ones. Not alot of collectors, and hard to haul. THe $5000 thing mentioned below would be way out of line around here. I`d go look and see what you see, they are a cool little machine.

msb: You best go and look, used combines are a bit more plentiful in the center of the continent than Rod's country. My neighbor was at an auction 3 years ago, bid $100. on an old massey 35 combine, brought it home, changed the fluids, greased it, and it combined wheat. I was there when he headed into the wheat. Clean grain in tank, straw out the back and very little waste. After an hour it broke a water pump hose. Can't give you the repair bill since, but it has combined some wheat every year since, and one month ago it was still in his drive shed in one piece.

Initially he bought the combine for the engine block.

Hugh, I bought a IH 101 with corn and grain header for the new tires on it, for 200 dollars. That was in 95 and it has been used every year since. I used it for 5 or 6 years and sold it to a buddy, who still uses it. It was a plumb goodun.

Hugh,

You can get those deals here too. It happens. It just depends on whether you go to an auction or try to buy from one of the schysters. The one I looked at wasn't at an auction, put it that way....
That said, generally the decent working older gas combines will fetch 1500 or better around here.

Unless it's a misprint, and is supposed to be 5,000. Doug N

I'd bet it's sat in the weeds a long time.... I looked at a combine once that was "field ready". It was field ready alright. Ready to go back to the weed patch it sat in before I got there.
On the bright side, if it didn't work out, you'd cut it up for scrap and probably still come out of it OK....
