I have a neighbor that I am trying to help. He has a 336 baler and no manual and no access to the internet. Do any of you all know how to time one, he said he put on new fingers or something like that and now cannot get it back in time.

Thanks,

Robert

What Old said is correct. You may have to retime the overhead feeder forks and needles. Need an OM for all that. Better find out what caused it to go out of time. Chain wear or broken, sprockets worn, etc.

Have him buy a manual or you will never be able to get it right. It would take 2 or 3 pages to explain timing one on here. The manaul has about 2 or 3 pages that you have to go by step by step to retime a baler. By the way JD dealer will still have a manual for it

okay guys will do, had no idea it was that sophisticated he said that some metal piece came up and broke some fingers off and so he put some new fingers on it and turned it over by hand and this metal piece is sticking up too soon where these fingers are at and said its going to break off the new ones if he doesnt do something to adjust it that is why he thinks its out of time

Kntters can get out of time with each other if there is too much end play in the knotter shaft.I would not work on this without a manual.

That's the plunger block rising when ever the needles are in the bale chamber. Better to break a shear pin on the drive instead of busting a pair of needle$. Your neighbour doesn't need internent to call 1-800-522-7448 and order a real manual from Deere at wholesale cost.
