YEp they were doing that for NE MO old threshers this week with wheat though I did not have time to help our old binder requires horses.

The reason for the one over the top is to shed water off of the rest of them.

Thanks for posting the wonderfull photos, takes me back to the early 1960's when I used to help a farmer when I was a teenager, allowed to drive the tractor & trailer being loaded in the field.

Nice pics. We used to do that when I was a boy. Never did have oats that good, though. We didn't put a bundle cross ways across the top, just 6 or 8 bundles. I still have the binder and tractor that pulled it, a Case S.
