Lou- I bet Jones Farm Supply in Gouverneur would have it, Leberge and Curtis or Walfdroffs for sure. For that matter the Menonite Machine shop outside Antwerp would probably have it.

Still have that AC Combine?

They sell it at Sloan Express, #25 flat steel detachable chain in 10 foot rolls for $16. I've also seen it at Tractor Supply.

Flat detachable steel chain, right?

Clean up a link, and look closely. The size number is usually stamped into the link, such as "55" (a common size), "62", etc..

If you can't find a number on one of the links, we'll need exact dimensions to determine what size you need.

I have some odds and ends of steel chain, depending upon what size you need, I may be able to help you.

One source is Deere, but if the dealer doesn't have the size you need in stock, you'd have to buy a 10' length, ordered in.

Hi Bob , Yes it has a 25 with a star shape after the 25. About an inch long by 3/4 wide, I think you discribed it with flat detachable, it comes apart by sliding a link sideways. Thanks

jdparts.com shows:

#25 detachable steel chain

Part Number: AP936B Part Price: $5.78 USD

It comes in 10' rolls.

I called my dealer, and the parts guy thinks the $5.78 will get a whole roll, it seems to me it must be $5.78 per foot. (They'd have to order it.) If you have a Deere dealer nearby, check it out, and see what they can do for you.

I'll take a look later, and see if that would be a size have have lying around, too.

Another source would be Baum Iron out of Omaha. I'll try to remember to grab the catalog later, and see what they show for availability/price.

Baum Hydraulics, www.baumhydraulics.com

Also Sloan Express, www.sloanex.com

and Shoup, www.shoupparts.com

Its seperated by bending until the flat of the link lines up with the slot of the next link. Then it may take some force to spring that slot open. There are some tools especially made for that process.
