f250 5 speed od, shift problem 4 wh dr

i have a 92 f250 5 od, when put in reverse it rakes and jumps out.all other gears ok. is it worn/ or worse. hope can fix from top, need to back trl and tractor in bldg. all replys appreciated. former owner put a hurst shifter on it. its a 92 with 351 windsor.

The shifing forks are worn as is the sliding gear. Mine does the same thing. If you snap it in reverse real fast it will stay in. By no means is this a permanent fix but you can get by. The transmission will have to come out and taken apart to replace the worn parts the transmission shop told me. good luck

rusty, i;ll take the shifter out and check it, if i can build it up and it goes in reverse ok, i;ll let you know what i find out. thanks for replys everyone.

first thing you should do is check the engine and transmission mounts

ok, iwent out and checked their both ok. it acts like its not going clear into gear. i may be able to take cover off from inside truck and check the shift forks. loks like a plate where the shifter goes into trans,
