I"m posting this for my father. He has a 1953 Moline UMIL. It is still in great running condition. We have found that it was built for the Corp of Engineers. We would like to have more information such as which branch and what was it"s exact use? We have searched extensivly on the web to no further findings. There has to be someone out there that either used this tractor for the corp or knows what it was used for.....The tractor would never leave his place but we are also curious as to what it"s worth might be?

Your Dad has a pretty rare tractor as only 357
were built and they were only made in 1953. They
are really known as thw UTIL-M, industrail model
upgraded for military use. As to use, I heard
they were used to tow airplanes, fuel and water
wagons, pull bomb carts, motor pool towing, and
anything else that came along. What the Corp of
Engineers I don't know but probably similar uses.
Many of this type machine ended up at airports
and city/town garages after the military was
finished with them.

ok, called my dad and got some #'s off the tractor. He said on the tag it says UMIL on the right side of the transmission there is the tag with the tractor # on it which is 05700026 On the engine is the serial # which is 05600026 and then there is 340-B on the same tag. hope this helps some on the looking up of the tractor.... from these numbers we had came up through searching this site and the mm collectors club that there was only 42 of them built..... there is also a book that we'd found that this one was #27 of the 42....
