I use 85-140 in my woods with no problems. I have even used semi fluid grease for a while when my seal started leaking. Stan

My self I would use the 80W-140 that way your good to go in all weather. Ya the 80W-90 is good but now days why not use the better stuff at the same price

If someone has the for sure answer, I'll defer to their superior knowledge...BUT, I've run straight 90 in those with no trouble, and I'm pretty sure 85W140 shoould cover you in any case. They only spin at 540 RPM, dont they? And they dont seem to have a huge amount of stress. In 10 years of working on rental bush hogs, i dont recall a single gearbox failure.

I understand there are Two Possible Choices 85/90 or 85/140.Viscosity.
