Fill the rafter area full of diesel smoke from an older diesel tractor. They won't go in there for at least six months. This really works.

I had a problem with birds getting in thru a run in I have for our goats and horses. I noticed at many loading docks they have strips of clear plastic as a curtain. The strips have a gap of about 1 in apart, and are about 2 - 3 wide (varies). I took a clear carpet runner and used a box cutter to slice in in strips. I have a 2x4 for a curtain rod, and it is held by brackets that let me lift it out. I got out of the bird business immediately. They won't fly thru it. You and your animals will walk thru it, or you can drive a tractor thru it. I realize it might be problematic for a large structure.

Birdseye balloons and old cd/vcr discs on long strings- so the breeze moves them.

Plastic owls and rubber snakes are a cheap solution.

I have the same problem with my Barn i got some big cats they do a number on the birds and help keep the out.
Not that I don't like birds I have a large feeder that I fill almost every day in the winter. But the swallows come in sometime in the spring and nest in the barn.
When I am mowing they almost block out the sun around the tractor.
