My H will lift the Haybine with no problem up to about half way. It is a single cylinder on the haybine. It goes halfway just as quick as you pull the lever. I am not low on fluid. I tried with a neighbors tractor and it lifted the haybine all the way with ease.

Is it a possible the H does not hold enough fluid in the tank to lift to full height? Open for suggestions.

Try a larger diameter cylinder if you have one or can borrow one. The more sq. in. the more lifting power. Just my .02

I don't know what kind of mower you have. I have a 1207 JD and none of my old Farmalls will lift it. They all test with pressure they are suppose to have. This is due to there being a break over point on the mower. Same is true with my 15 foot bushhog. It will raise the wings part of the way, then it needs a extra shot of pressure that is not there. I can get off tractor and help it just a little and it will raise it on up on its own after that little boost to get it over the hump. As mentioned you may change cylinders and get it to work, but I don't think it will ever work with the cylinder you have.

Pour another quart or two of oil into the hydraulic reservoir and try again. The reservoir will hold more than the recommended 6 quarts. If you overfill it, the excess wil spew out the vent hole in the filler cap and make a mess, but nothing else be damaged. If your H will lift it halfway, you have enough pressure.

Thanks to all for the suggestions.

I have a 7" Massey Ferguson. I believe it is a model 725 or 735 possibly. I will try the extra fluid as suggested first and then go from there. As I said, when you pull the lever it jumps up halfway very quickly. Pressure does not seem to be the problem.

Love the old tractor and do not want to upgrade yet.
thanks again,

I'm guessing you don't have enough preasure at the tractor as other have stated, but they weren't made with a whole lot when new. Only way to get around it is use a bigger cylinder. If it has a 3" now, a 3.5" dia. should probably be enough, if you want to be really sure, use a 4" dia.ust be warned with the extra volume of the cylinder now it'll be slower than it is now. a 1/2" of diameter makes a huge difference in surface area and the resulting weight it can lift.

If the design of the Haybine cylinder and linkage causes the geometry to be at a disadvantage starting at about mid elevation, the issue may be lack of hydraulic pressure for the application. If it is yours, and you want to use it replacing the cylinder with a larger diameter will do it. Use only a 50% larger diameter cylinder, it will have plenty of dditional piston area to lift with. Try disconnecting the top of the cylinder from the haybine and see if it extends all the way. If it does the my guess is pressure problem. If it only goes halfway then you need more volume.

Will it lift other things ok? I think you have enough pressure. I run a 7 foot haybine and my H lifts it just fine, you may need to rebuild pump

Just not enough pressure.
