Well, i havent had too much of a chance to see who's done hay yet and who hasnt, but i got to start tonight. i work on two different farms, and the one is right by home. we always do the hay earlier on that one due to the smaller size and the owners being antsy to play. we also cut our two fields when we do his. Went smooth, and surprisingly the hay is pretty decent even with the crazy weather we had. how is everyone else doing? this may all be old news, bein as i havent done my research.

Mines ready here in Maryland, just tring to find some dry sunny weather!! I cut 2 swipes of the poorest on the edge Tuesday evening just to try the equipment out, I wanted to cut the whole field but was scared. It rained yesterday evening & into the night, I guess my instincts were right this time.

I saw where a neighbor cut a field but I'm not getting to anxious because my hay isn't no where ready to cut. Maybe another 2 weeks before it is ready I wait for the seed to set on good to give it all the protean I can get. Walt

I've had all the equipment set up for more then a week now and cut hay today. Been a little crazy around here as of late because my dad died Saturday at 4:30 AM sort of been hard to gewt it in gear but I did get an hour or so worth of cutting done this afternoon. The old Oliver 77 and my NH 460 just played with the cutting. Probably not as good as it could be but still not all that bad either

My hay is not much this year. Usually ready to mow by this time of year but this time it came a late freeze and set it way back then has not had a decent rain since. I'm not much excited about starting this year. Also it is becoming harder and harder to find help to throw square bales each year. Last year I got 800 bales soaked 2" deep while in the bale because help did not show up as promised. Although round hay does not bring much around here, I may just do lots of rolls this year. Can't figure it out. Fertilize is up around 1/3 from last year, string is up, fuel is up, yet when I ask other hay farmers what they are going to sell their rolls for this year, their reply is 20.00 per roll--- same as last year. Why don't they say 30.00 or 35.oo per 4X5 roll. Even at that rate you don't make a lot on it. It's hard to sell hay for what it's worth when people can keep buying it for 20.00 per roll. I think a lot of people must like to put up hay just for fun.

I baled 22 acres, and got 1 1/2 inches of rain on another 75 last night and this morning. My boy's are eager so they are going to cut more tomorrow.

Central Oh. seems like it's slow this year. Had a late hard freeze that browned the tops a little.

John-SB, If you are located in central Ohio, I'm likely not too far away. I'm pretty familiar with central Ohio. Imay have been in your area before. Just curious.

Mr. Bob, I'm in western Delaware Co. near Ostrander. What's your 20? I just picked up a 214T baler so I'm anxious to see how well it does since I got it all cleaned up.

I have been using my 214T for years now and I just love it. They are one tough baler!! Even baled some green hay for a guy one spring with it and them bales musta weighed around 80# First one out of the kicker went right through the wooden wagon rack taking the board with it. I have a number 30 hyd kicker mounted on mine.

The hay is up to about 8 inches here and we got a couple of inches of snow last night with more in the forcast! It was over 90 F a few days ago, 3 days in a row. Crazy weather.
