Saw these oldtimers yesterday. That contraption on the 400 is an ensilage loader. Owner does not want to sell the 400. He wants $500 for the M and $1500 for the A. The M is stuck, missing the belly pump, air cleaner, and front end. A is loose, supposedly ran a couple of years ago.

My Dad was Plant Manager at Oswalts for a number of years. Those silage loaders were great at the time. Dad took one to Mississippi to try out on peanut vines at a feedyard in the 50's sometime. The silage loader were real popular here at the High Plains feedyards in Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Texas.

The price on the A sounds high unless it runs. I bought a non-running 47 a near Holdrege from a friend last summer for three hundred. It looks pretty much like the one in your picture.

No, it does not run. It is loose but it has not run in a couple of years.

Guys, That Ensilage Loader was made by Butler/Oswalt corp. This style was refered to as a Belt Slapper. We had one like it but sold it in 1980, bought a new hydrolic model, We put it on an ol Stage I Super M.
Butler/Ostalt made Ensilaage Mixer Boxes for trucks too ours had Electronic scales, 3 augers to mix the ennsilage with supplements or to be augered out into troughs. The one we had could hold near 10k lbs ob material. Hope this helps Later,
John A.

A friend of mine just gave me a MM U with one of those silage loaders on it. I have not been to see it yet hope to go this week if it doesn't rain. Got to get it home so I can begin to make a puller out of the U.

Sounds pretty pricey to me. That ensilage loader may be the buy of the week, I have never seen one like it. Was is a factory made attachment or something a local welder built? Was it used for haylage or what?
Paul
