I have a 24HP Zennoh tractor that ran fine until one day it just would not crank over. Battery is fine. I cannot jump it off from the battery but I did jump it off using a diesel Truck and put the hot cable directly on the starter. It fired right up. I have swapped starters and put another power cable on. Any ideas?

The tractor will not jump battery to battery even with a fresh battery. I have tried to move the tractor around and zilch. This starter is from another tractor and the original fires right up on the other tractor. Could it be the ground. It fired up using the key start. Really good tractor gremlin. Also I have nothing bad to say about the zennoh yanmar tractors, been using one for years.

Starter solenoid, key switch, a safety interlock open somewhere..

Sort of hard to troubleshoot without a wiring diagram....

You'll have to Google Kubota tractor forums and Chinese tractor forums; when I try to post the sites the system blocks the post. If they don't come up on Google email direct and I'll email them.Good luck.

Could be a key switch issue as well

Zen Noh Is just a big farming co-op that buys tractors from other manufactures and re-badges them for their own use.

What flavor do you have? is it orange? kubota.. Or green or red.. Yanmar? etc.

The more info you post.. the better the answers will be.

Did you replace battery cables, and clean the ground up real good?

Yep, replaced cables, no corrosion on any cable. The tractor is orange (kubota). ZL2000FD.

If the tractor battery was dead, then you may not have been able to jump battery to battery due to the load of the dead battery. If it was a good battery, and you were able to jump starter to doner battery. that means starter is good.

My next thought would be starter solenoid... Jump around it with tractor in neutral and clutch locked down.. if that works.. get a new solenoid.. A universal ( solenoid is grounded thru base and requires key-hot to crank ) or an isolated ford type will work ( Solenoid is isolated from ground, key-hot to one small terminal.. other small terminal to ground ).

Well, this should be interesting. I predict you will end up saying, "Come on, guys- don't pull any punches. What do you REALLY think of Chinese tractors?" That being said, and knowing nothing about the Zen-noh, it sounds like a starter solenoid problem. But who knows? There is a website where owners of Chinese tractors commiserate with each other, but I don't have the name- perhaps someone can help.

Actually.. Yanmar, and Kubota are japaneese. And so is the farm co-op Zen Noh.
