Fence corners

Kids have talked me into a 100" x 100" duck pen, built around a little water hole.

I havent built a fence since I was a kid, handing tools mostly.

I have the corners posts set (6"). Should I build a standard H corner and drill through the horizontal brace and use re-rod? I think that is what I remember. Then just leave a little a little rod exposed to wrap the wire around so it doesnt slip?

Not sure if H corners are overkill for 100x100. But I figure you still need them if you are going to stretch the fence at all.

Thanks,
Rick

Thanks for the answers. Sounds like I will stick with using standard H corners.

Rick

Don't know about the re-rod, but the standard corner set-up is horizontal brace from corner post to next post (I put the two posts 7 feet apart, so I can use a fence post as the horizontal brace), then wire from bottom of corner post to the height of the horizontal brace on the next post, and tighten with a handy stick.

It is my opinion that it is best to put the horizontal cross piece up high on the vertical posts, rather then mid-way up.

I think you would be pretty safe just setting your corner post and using diagonal braces to stakes driven into the ground. My 75' square backyard fence is woven wire and tightened with a tractor, it has been in place for 16 years, 2 kids and 4 labrador retards.

100 inch x 100inch is pretty small.

You never know maybe I am raising minature ducks.

By the way, shouldn't your handle be spelled Incorporated, not Incorprated.

Not that I am the picky one.

Often when you post here using the apostrophe, it comes out as a quote mark. Surely, he meant feet, not inches. As far as corner posts, he needs to put them in very well supported, we used diagonal braces to next posts, and then diagonal wire in other direction twisted tight. shetland sheep or a couple llamas will stretch a fence to unbelievable amounts, ask how I know!

Don"t call him Surley! And 100"X100" is plenty for a duck!
