I have a guy wants to give me one of these units, 12 hp model, in trade for services. I could use a good chipper but know nothing about this particular one and was wondering if there was anyone here who could give me a recommendation pro or con?

Lots of variables here, Dave. I have a Tomahawk that I bought used, but like new, for $375 ten years ago. I think new ones of that size (12 or 13 hp) sold for about $700 at that time. It does a good job chipping and shredding if I don't push it too fast and if I don't try to feed it a branch bigger than about 2 1/2 inches in diameter. My main complaint is that the discharge opening is so close to the ground that I have to keep an eye on it or I am frequestly clogging it up! Then I have to shut things down and clear it out again. When chipping the bigger material, it doesn't seem to take long to pile enough in front of the discharge to cause the clogging to start. In short, it all depends on the condition of the Tomahawk, the amount and size of the material you want to chip, and what you think the value of your services might be! Good luck regardless of your decision. Tom
