Looking at a 310 Belarus. Price is right and in pretty decent shape, but most of the opinions on this sight are very negative of other models and not much talk on the 310. Are there any 310 owners or mechanics out there that would like to give an opinion.
I have a friend with 2 different model Belarus"s, had no major problems and he loves them.
Thanks, Smiley

I have three of the belarus tractors a 500 series from the 70’s, and two 420A’s from the 80’s. The 500 has more hard hours on it than I can count. The only repairs I have done were a starter and batteries. The one 420A needed a rebuild about five years ago but with the aluminum block I will must likely just wear it out since I do have another engine standing by. This one I changed out the starter to get quicker starts in the winter but that is all. The second 420A I have only had since late last fall and it sat all winter so I do not have much run time on that yet but seams just as good. Every thing works on these tractors except for the lights that have been broken off over the years. Yes they do look like junk and they do have some oil leaks just like my fords, international, farmall, truck and motorcycle. I guess I am just not offended by fade paint, rust, or oil.

I understand that the castings are very brittle and porous.. They often crack and break.. They are so porous that oil seeps through the metal..

I was at an auction sale in Ky. a couple tears ago and they had 2 Belarus tractors , both low hours.I made the comment about them being in good shape and low houred. A guy next to me said that you will never see one with a lot of hr. as they don'generally last long enough to get a lot of hr.

I am always intrigued by the concept of cheap horsepower/beating the system. I have not researched Belarus tractors, but they have a reputation for being somewhat crude. I have also observed them to develop significant oil leaks all over the tractor.

By far and away the biggest factor to consider in buying a Belarus for long-term use, is parts availability. If a few years down the road you are unable to get parts, the tractor is WORTHLESS. Getting parts for our older domestic tractors is a big enough problem. Personally I would not buy a Belarus.
