Hi,
I just found a neat old edison splitdorf magneto while digging in the basement of a abandoned house. It says type CD on it. Anyone have any ideas what tractors or engines may have used this model of magneto? Thanks.

Base mount ? Flange mount? How many cylinders? CD 0010 flange mount for JDs and CD 0016 also 2 cylinder base mount for JD D or GP. Some early Case & IHC and lots of others used them and even some Indian motorcycles. Find the spec number on side and I could tell you exactly what it fits maybe.

Glen,
It has the spec #0010 on it. I figure it must be off of the old unstyled A the guy used to have a long time ago??. If it is im wondering what serial # range they were on because i also have a unstyled A but it has a Wico X mag on it.

The 0010 is a long lug mag with 35º impulse and will fit any JD A,B,D,G that used a long lug drive mag. They were used until late 40s on JDs. Bob gave you one source with listings for mags and there are others like JD manuals and parts catalogs too. I myself have never agreed with all the other listings on the Splitdorf magnetos as those experts don't reveal their true sources of where the info really came from so who knows. Info from parts manuals and magneto manuals will disagree some between it. The FM DRV2A and DRV2B was also used on some earlier As before or along same time period. Wico C & XH mags were recommended JD parts replacements from the dealer and parts are available for those still today.

How many high-tension terminals?

If it is a two-cylinder, the link below will give the 2-Cylinder Deere's that used them.

Hercules engines used 4 and 6-cylinder versions, as I'm sure many other engine manufacturers did.
