In the outer rear axle housing on the Farmall C there are two oil seals and how they are installed keeps any kind of lubrication from getting to the outer bearing and my manuals do not show lubricating them before assembly. Anyone else ever had this issue and if so what did you do? Thanks for any advice.

I forgot to mention there is two seals in there one is a felt seal in the cap. The fitting puts grease between the two To lube the bearing.

Dave is right this bearing is lubed with a grease gun. There is no oil in the axle unless the inner seal is bad. There is a grease fitting on the top side of each axle on the end to grease it with. Be sure not to put but one or two shots of grease in it at one time to prevent damage to the seal.

How does the grease get to the bearing past the seal?

The seal is to keep grease in not to prevent it from going through the fitting.
