Well,,I knew it would eventually sell. The land we were leasing in norhtern ia. Was pretty good set up , REC , well, built nice outhouse , dragged old trailer up there. Hunting was fair,,not as good as expected, BUT , it was 2 hr drive from home, enough to be truley "away " Kind of out in the sticks. Old logging trails for atv, close to river for fishing , trout stream, etc. We pretty much paid the taxes on the place for the owner , in addition to keepin gplace mowed, keeping up fences, cleaned up old building that had collapsed, making a "presance " keeping tresspassers out, and generally taking care of place . Also as owner was out of state , would few times drive up to meet with people who needed acces to place. Sprayers , Scs , etc . We had great times hunting and pretty much used place for get away for camping year round . Best stress reliever ever ,going up for weekend of wood cutting . lol My question ,,was this a fluke , or are there more places like this avail to lease ?

Well it obviously was for sale and you didn`t buy it... It has been my experience that they aren`t making much land anymore and if you want some to use, the only way to make sure you have it, is to buy it yourself. Around my area a good lease is usually quite a bit higher than a payment, particularly when you consider the tax advantages of owning, an other potential income available.

There's LOTS of hunting cabins, etc. for lease up here in northern ND.

Also, guys are buying up houses in SMALL towns, and using them as hunting retreats. The towns are so deserted, it's NEARLY as quiet as being in the country! There are farmers who post their land, and give exclusive hunting permission to their "regulars".

Bob,,the whole trouble with that ,it's clearrrrr r up in N.Dakota ! lol I hear what your saying though . Great hunting , fishing etc, I am from there , lot of relatives up that way , Fargo , Grand Forks, etc, Real hard to get Nonresident deer tag , tried for years . Might have to give it another go . uncle has lot of land he farms , plenty of places to hunt .In fact ,,I'd really like to move back there if it wasn't for kids and family here in Iowa . Made it up to Devils lake in feb ice fishing ,,,didn't catch much but had a blast , will be up in june and aug to try again .
