My '95 F150 will go into what I think is limp in mode. The check engine light comes on, it runs very rich, no power, and won't shift out of second. While in this mode I can't pull any codes. However when it cools off and goes back to normal I run the codes and it says there is nothing wrong. Is this the computer itself going bad? It has 200k+ and otherwise runs very good.

A "flaky" MAP sensor will cause all sorts of weird problems.

I had one similar to this come in shop awhile back . Finally found shorted connector at computer harness. Injectors were grounding . Took some digging to find it . Might try tugging on harnes by ECU when it is acting up . If nothing, unplugged connector and check for moisture , arching , corrosion .

Sounds like a good idea. I just found the computer in the firewall under the hood hinge. I try it when it acts up next.
