Wonder can anyone tell me how the starter on a 674 international diesel is wired. Bout 5o miles away and the guy who took it off is in Mississippi. his step son is trying to get it to work. They don't have a manual so need to run up there. I tried to tell him over the phone but he says when he tirs to hook positive cable to solenoid, it seems to have a short. Wonder if this one wires different.

Thanks in advance

Dave

sounds like the pos. &neg cables are on backwards otherwise the pos. cable goes on the top or bolt farthest from the starer motor on the solenoid and the rest should be obvious by size of eye on wire or the wire about the size of a #12 will go on with the bat. cable and the smaller one will go on the bolt off to the side one will make it click and the other will act like it"s just dead . make sure all wire ends and threads are clean and the little copper piece from the bolt out the side of the starter housing is on the sloenoid bolt closest to the starter it"s self . Hope this helps . If not mail me and go from there .
