Just finished "plowing" my oat field. An old sod, many years old. Very rough job, I'm sure dead last on David's plowing contest. I worked hard to adjust plow for smoother job, to no avail. I'm sure not looking forward to disking it over a couple three times, before dragging. I plowed it on the diagonal to try to break up previous furrows and try to level it out. Years ago, my dad used to plow oppositely each year, so dead furrows became back furrows, etc. Land was rented several years, and those farmers weren't so careful! (Spent lot of time going around headlands this way!)

Picture of whole field - yes it is possible to plow up hill both ways! Worst yet, it was up hill and side hill at the same time! Had to avoid the wetspot in the middle, standing water there!

Here's the tractor and plow. Certainly not an impressive rig... Sure doesn't hold a cnadle to the rigs you were showing.

Is that a Super C? Must have taken awhile to plow that patch.

You're supposed to plow sod with coulters. If you had've used coulters, you would have a much smoother looking job because they slice the grass

Excellent, excellent Job!

Yes, that sod will make ya cuss yer mother. If you dual up the disc tractor, it will make the ride "somewhat smoother". (not much tho). :>)

I like your outfit and it looks as tho it really did a number for you.

Well Done!

Allan

Ray;

I had some rough plowed ground a couple of years ago. I hooked my 12 foot disc behind my Case 320 dozer and went over it the first time. That was a very smooth ride as the tracks stayed on top of the clods. Not very fast, but was a fun job... Gene
