My dad has a powershift 4040 that will leak oil out of the left side of the 2 point. It is the top part of the 2 point arm where it goes into the housing. The deere mechanics say that is not possible because that part is not under pressure. It is a totally random leak that comes and goes but when it comes it leaves a trail behind the tractor. Any ideas????? ?

You might have an internal leak at the rockshaft valve or cylinder, that blows toward the shaft causing the leak. Warm the tractor up and cycle the 3pt with a load on it and watch the area around the rockshaft.

Have you checked the filler cap to see if the vent in the cap is open?

Are you talking about the load control seals on the tractor end of the lower lift arms? Or are you talking about the rockshaft arm on top of the trans. housing?

I am talking about the rockshaft arm. I just could not think of the proper name.

sounds like you're getting oil past the rockshaft piston in the cylinder, thus filling the rockshaft area up with oil, thus pushing it out past the side of the rockshaft arm.
