Decided to give my 424 a "follow the book" lube job. Got the manual out to do so. Manual says there is a zerk on the pivot pin on the front axle, and indicates (not clearly) that it is just below the steering gear box. I can't for the life of me find it or a hole where one should go. I know it has to have lubricant!!!!! ! Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks. Bob

They made several versions of the front axle... manual steering, one or two power steering versions, and a HD version.

I took a quick look in the partsbook... the old manual steer version (like mine) has the axle pivot pin hollow-drilled, with the zerk sticking out of the back of the actual axle pivet pin.

On one or both PS versions, the zerk sicks out the FRONT of axle pivot pin. I didn't look at the HD version.

Bob - I should have mentioned mine does have power steering. There is a centered indentation (maybe hole) in the frontside end of the pin (I thought it was a lathe center point) that I will take another look at. I won't see the tractor for a couple days but bet that's it. Thanks for the info. I don't feel so mechanically inclined right at the moment. Oops' - Thanks - Bob
