Came in for a little lunch today, News was on, Then came the red letters breaking news. I was expecting something real bad, There was a horse in Texas somewhere stuck in the mud. I guess it was real bad for the horse. Anyway they were having a real hard time trying to get straps around the horse. They would try to lift, and the straps would slip off. When my brother was in the cattle business after a hare rain sometimes several would get bogged down in a mud hole. Some times times when everything else failed a rope was put around the neck and a good stedy pull with would get the animel out. Could this be done with horses, or do they have a weak neck? They finally got the horse out.Stan

When I was a boy, I watched my dad pull a big draft horse out of a big, steep irrigation canal with a John Deere A.

He somehow tied a log chain to the horse's front legs above the ankle joint. Horse got up, shook himself off and was none the worse for wear.

Darned things will fight that bog and wear themselves out. They get muscle tired and just simply don't have the strength anymore to "Get up and walk out".

I saw that also. Was a nice break from watching "news" about Imus all week. They said the horse "Champ" I think was his name, will be fine in a few days.

Imus wasn't that lucky. Striking similarities though between the plight of Imus and Champ!

I saw that too. With the price of hay being what it is, they would have been ahead leaving the horse in the mud maybe.

I have seen a stuck in the mud horse get pulled out by the head(it was O.K.) and a stuck in the mud bull get his head pulled off.
