Ford 960. Learned to drive on it, unique shifter, heck of a power to weight ratio, pretty good feature set for it's age, very nimble manuverability.

Doesn't mean I don't like others, or care what color other folks like. :)

Depending on the use of the tractor, i find it veryyyyy yyyyy y hard to pick between my 1650 and 4020. But for overall favorite, i have to go with my 1650

My favorite tractor would be any of the 1000 series Massey's. My MF 1100 makes my neighbors 4020 beg for mercy to try to keep up plowing. Besides the fact it's more user friendly, has a better seat, has better fuel economy, and I could by 2 more 1100's for the price of one 4020.

Sinclairville, NY. 12 mi NE of Jamestown, NY. That picture is old(one of my favorites though). The barns you see in that pic completely changed shortly after that pic was taken.

Barnrat my father-in-law used to plow with a MF 175 and a JD 720. He sold the 175 and kept the 720. If I was smart and had the money back then I should of bought the 175. I thought the 175 was a better tractor. To bad we can't keep them all! I hate to see all this old iron going to the scrap yards.

My uncles have a MF 175. Spent many hours on it when I was a kid. Great tractor. My father In law had 2 JD 730 diesel when I took over this farm. They were good tractors in there day. I like tractors with power brakes and a Park on this hill farm.

Oliver 77 with the sheet metal intact. When I was a kid I used to love the wimpy name of Oliver on a tough machine. When I grew up, I love the clean lines of one...when I'm at a tractor show, I always look at the Oliver lineup first. I have a DB-880e which I love (my first tractor) but someday I'd like to have a 77 also.

When the Oliver 1800s came out I dreamed of having one some day. Never did but went right to the 1850. I think I was wise to go with that. LOVE THAT 1850.

My favorite tractor? That's an easy one. It's a 1957 Oliver Super88 Diesel that my uncle Don bought new. Dad bought it in 1964 after Don traded it in for a new tractor. It became the "big horse" on our farm for the next ten years and I spent many, many hours riding on it with dad. The fondest memories I have are of those spent with dad on that tractor. Like the Allan Jackson song says "a young boy, two hands on the wheel, I can't replace the way it made me feel..... ." I think most everyones favorite tractor is the one that dad had when they were young.

Actually I've probably spent only 10 minutes total in the cab of a 4440... but my research into a replacement tractor for Dad to use with a loader on it leads me to find that the 4440 is one of the handiest and most reliable tractors out there.

I do enjoy time in our 8630, though!

It was actually the last of the 2cyl models the 30 series that put JD ahead of Farmall in sales. Then the 4010 came along and nailed the coffin shut.

The 4020 have been selling very well this winter. 90 HP tractor for for 7 to 15 grand and another 10 grand for a major and good to go. Most large operators now use 90 HP tractors to pull wagons.

Last two cylinder magazine showed the price of 630 compaired to 3010 not much difference. On the change over Deere tried to hold the customer base from not crossing over to red.

Agree with ya, sort of. I don't put the 4010 on the list just because of the fact it didn't have the Power Shift trans. I know alot of people are gonna argue all sorts of other tractors and each had strong points but I really have to think sales told the story. Imagine how much better the 20, 30 and 40 series would have sold if Deere had had the common sense to give them MFWD. A 4020 or 4620 PS with MFWD would be the ultimate in open station farm tractors. I wish there was a 6030 with power shift, sound card cabs can be put on them to make the best looking and what would be the most handy field demon to hit the farm.

i worked for 2 brothers 1 had 4430 the other 6030
they said many times why didn't deere put sound guard cab on 6030? cab on 6030 rattled and let lots of dust and dirt in. jon finally got some great stuff foam to seal some of the cracks.
