Wife and I went to St. Louis over the weekend. Left Muscatine, Ia. and drove down 61 thru Mo. on Friday and back home Sunday on Illinois side. 267 to 108 and stopped in Carlinville to see my Mom in the nursing home and then up 55 to 74 and then 17 west.Saw 1 tractor and field cultivator at work in MO. Nothing else moving. Didn't seem like anybody had done any field work. Could be quite a year. Chris

Brother is putting some anhydrous on in selected fields. Son did some disking today and got stuck. Tried to pull out with hesston, just got worse. Had to get the dozer. Saw a couple other field cultivators running today. Still supposed to be around freezing in the morning.

On my daily ride, I passed a previously beautiful field of wheat that they had just tore up with ruts/wheel tracks by spreading nitrogen. It had been looking great, had a good deep green color. I would have waited.

Some field work started here in michigan, but since the snow and freezing cold blew in last week, some tractors are parked out in the field just waiting. Could be real interesting, i only know of one farmer here who planted the oats already. Corn planting is in full swing here come may first.
