I found a Ferguson Dearbourn model 14A. It is missing the front wheel infront of the first plow. The person selling it said I will not need it. He said it works better without it is that true? Will this plow work for my Ford 841? I will plowing a rocky 6 acre plot. The seller wants $250.00 is this a fair price? Is there anything I need to know about plowing or adjustments I need to make?

I use a ferguson plow behind my 841. Its a 2-16 plow and it does well. The coulters are off of it and in rocks its ok because with the coulters on in rocks it would jump around and skip over the rocks which caused other problems

First find somebody to teach plow basics- that's why you ask here though. Front wheel in front of plow blade? Coulter- cuts ground and trash so blade doesn't get fouled, needed for rough grounds, sod/pasture, cornstalks. If you are plowing previously disked ground you can plow without it. Rocky ground? What else beside rocks?3pt hitch Ferguson and Ford equipment mount interchangably mostly- see Ford/Ferguson boards for history- Ferguson 3pt was on Ford 9N,2N, 8N until split in business deal then Ferguson made own tractor looked like copy of Ford- Then combined with Massey-Harris , became Massey-Ferguson. $250.00? Check the cost and construction of a new plow at garden shops lately? Asking price is not excessive depending on condition of plow share, rest of plow. Scrap price has raised price of old equipment lately, some areas with large gardens also have higher prices, check your neighborhood. check the using tractor board and Ford board archives for plow adjustment tips.
