Ariats. They make a good lace up work boot and some really pretty high top "everything else" boots. They are a little wider than some other brands and fit my foot much better.

Redwings. I have a narrow foot and my left ankle is weak. I can buy b width Redwing hightops that fit well and support my ankle. I've tried the large store cheap brands but they don't fit well. I don't particularly care for my boots well but the redwings hold up well for me. I tried some Redwing Goretex hightops twice. They were the most comforable shoe I ever wore but were a little heavy and hot. I got used to that but the soles didn't hold up. They were made of different material than the normal Redwings and fell apart in less than a year. the uppers were still perfect. At about $189 I'll go with the regular shoes. My wife and I each bought some Goretex boots from Sierra a few years ago, same story with the sole. ???

For years I wore Blundstones until they changed the style and the steel cap started chewing out my left little toe. Now I wear Rossi.

Looks like I'm alone on this one so far, but the last 3 pair of boots I got are Timberlands. 2 pair fit really nice and my feet feel great, but 1 pair in the middle just didn't wear right or something, I only wore those for about 6 months and got myself a different pair, made sure to walk around a bit longer in 'em in the store. They were broke in within 2 days at work.

Herman Survivors, steel toe pull on.A very durable work boot that is comfortable from the first day. Like new condition after a year of hard use. $50 at Walmart. the Redwings were not as good at nearly 3 times the cost.

USed to wear Red wing laceups for everything but was only getting about 6 months out of a pair in the hog barns. I now wear the slip on leather Lacrosse boots the implement dealer in town started carrying them they are 1/2 price the Redwings and last longer still like my red wings though tried a pair of wolverines the strings rotted in 6 weeks went and got my money back

Toured the Red Wing plant, made in my state, think they are great - and they hurt my feet. :(

Cheapest boot Kmart sells - fits my foot perfectly, wears for about 2-3 years, 300+ days a year out in the farm in dust, dirt, & cow stuff. Feet feel great.

I don't understand either, but guess my feet save me a bunch over the years....

Carhatt Wellingtons, but the lining came apart, so I might try some new Red Wing Wellies here in a month or so. I've worn down the the steel and then some on the right toe, and the left one isn't far behind. You folks have convinced me to go Red Wing...or Wolverine Durashocks? Hmmmm

Looks like alot of you really like your Red Wings ? I used to wear them and Knapp then anything I could find cheap, then back to Red Wing and those $100 + didn't hold up any better than the elcheapo's. Their quailty must of went to pot like everything else. I got a really high arch and have trouble with about everything, bought a pair of those inserts from TV, Walk Fit I think is the name ? They seem to help ?

Redwing Pecos steel toed boots for on the rigs, and Wolverine Durashocks for around the farm. The Durashocks just can't hold up to the abuse of drilling operations, but are like wearing sneakers when working around the old farm.

RED WING GUYS in reply to D17 man, 04-09-2007 14:37:40
If you wear Red Wings and know your size, model and all that good stuff we have Amish that will order them. I have not wore them for a few years, but they used to be EXACTLY half price compared to the shoe stores. No they will not have your style in stock, but will order them. He always claimed he still made lots of money on them. And also another No, they were not seconds or mismatched shoes either.

In the summer, steel toed Chippewa Sportillity Loggers. Winter time non-steel toed Rockies. Finally figured out that my feet were always cold because of the steel toe. Rockies solved that problem. If its real sloppy out or snowing, Columbia Bugabootoo. Kinda like a cross between a pack boot and a leather work boot.

Favorites are Red Wing Irish Setters. I have a size problem in that I wear a size 11 in a C width. Has to be made on an American last. I used to have a pair of insulated Setters but have since for many years worn the US Army issue winter boot. (not the Mickeys-they're extreme cold weather boots) My size and insulated w/leather lining. Worst boots I ever tried were Rockports.

Nothing but steel toed Wolverines for nearly 15 years... even though I still don't particularly like the direct attach sole. Still I usually wear a pair out about every year and a half to two years so it really doesn't matter, the boot goes about the same time the sole does. I've tried several different models and ther best for comfort and durability are the tan colored pigskin ones that are waterproof and have 200 grams of thinsulate. There's just enough insulation to wick the sweat off your feet in the summer and keep them warm on all but the coldest days, and my feet have never gotten wet no matter how soupy the ground was. Not to mention They're comfortable and limber enough right out of the box that they're the only boots I've ever worn out of the store and gone straight to work wearing and never gotten a blister.

Red Wings with super sole at work, Red Wing logger boots around the farm, Northerner rubber boots for snow & Itasca rubber boots with 1600 grams of thinsulate when it"s really cold out. Doc Martens Air Wear for dress, Minnetonka"s when I just want to give my feet a rest. Tops rot off Red Wings before the soles wear out. Can"t be too good to your feet after 40 years of concrete floors.

wore Wolverine for about 35 years. Then they quit using pigskin--it breathes, the bristles go all the bway through the hide. Next, they finished me off with the Durashock. Csn't stand them. Went to Redwing next for about 5 years--nice boots, but I bought my first pair of Carharts this winter. I like them the best unless Wolverine would go back to the old shoes I wore and loved for so long.

I like the steel toed work boots from WallyWorld for the farm. They are a bit heavy, but have saved my toes a couple times.

For work I need something a little fancier so I buy HorseShoes, like a high-top shoe with a heel for riding horses.

And I have a pair of Nike as well.

I war moon boots, just like the ones Napoleon Dynamite wore in the movie. Real good for workin' on tractors and stuff. And the girls without boyfriends really like them too. Your feet never smell, the stink stays right inside the boot. And I see the article about bedbugs down below, just throw one of my moonboots in your bed and those little blighters come streaming out from between the sheets. Naw, just kidding, I wear anything as long as it's from Wally World and has a Made in China label on it.
