I have a Ford 841 and I have a rocky food plot which is 6 acres. I planted corn my first year and now I am having a hard time disking because it is so rocky. Should I buy a plow? What type? Will I have problems with the Rocks. The disk I have is a KING KUTTER"S BOX FRAME DISC HARROW.

I use a 2-16 plow behind my 841 and it works well. I think any thing bigger in the soil I have would be to much for it. I do live where theres a lot of clay, roots and rocks. With a plow you can turn them rocks out of the ground then walk through the area and pick the bigger one up so they will not be as much trouble the next time

30 Pointer,
A plow that might work better for you than a moldboard plow is a disc plow.
Several companies made them both in 3 point and trailer types.
The disc plow will jump over rocks and roots where a moldboard plow will get caught under them.
I have played around with one here a bit and it didn't leave as smooth a furrow as a moldboard but it sure dug up my rocky soil.
The pic is of a Ferguson 2 disc plow that I found in the implement photos here.
Thanks to the original poster for the photo.

I would get plow in good condition and plow the ground. You will probably always have rocks to deal with and if they are large enough to be a problem get as many them off the field as possible. The King Cutter box frame disk is not built very heavy to use alone in this application. Plowing will certainly make it easier. If you live in the north do fall plowing and that will let the soil break down over the winter. Usually one pass with a good disk is all that's necessary in the spring.

A 2 bottom plow would be enough in tough ground, you could go 3 pt mounted or trailer plow . Then you"ll have to disk it and pick the biggest rocks off.Maybe seeding some clover , alfalfa and/or grass would be better if the ground is real rough, a perrenial crop means you wouldnt have to work it up as often. I counted 21 deer in one of my hay fields last week an hour before dark.
