Snowblowing speed

I suspect that no one wants to hear about snowblowing but I would like to ask the question before I forget.
What speed is best for blowing with the PTO dual range.
I am thinking that I blow to fast and if a rock got stuck in the blower I think that the chances of the shear pin not leting go are greater then if going slow.
I mostly rev it up and watch the snow fly.
What is better or does it mattter?

Thought you meant driving speed, but you mean pto rpm, don't you?

Look at the blower, & do not exceed it's speed. You are going to have a mess if you are trying to run a 540 blower at 1000 rpm. That is just a disaster waiting - and it won't wait long.

Rated RPM for the blower is max!!!
If you have a 540 blower on 1000 it might self destruct, or hurt someone. The only way to do it would be to set the engine speed so that the blower runs at 540 and the tractor moves slower.
This would be OK as long as you were the only operator, and you were absolutely attentive to the speed. Just my opinion, not a recommendation. JimN

I generally blow snow with the 756 diesel in R 1 with the TA ahead at 540 rpms and let it eat snow until it spins usually with only one tire, then pull the TA. sometimes I have to tap that wheel's brake.
