I have a 1951 minneapolis moline UTS. What is the correct size of the engine, It was stuck so I had to pull the heads and free them up. Then the jugs decided to move with the piston, so the I pulled the jug and had to beat the piston out of the jug, Where does a guy find patrs for these at a reasonable price, last time I priced out the gaskets alone, they were over $300.00 just for the head gaskets, oil pan gaskets, and the gasket for the jugs to the block. little outrageous i thought. Then I need the exhaust manifold for it also, they are hard to find in good shape.

It should have a 283 in it and the gaskets can be bought as a set at any auto parts store for usually around 100-150 FelPro makes the complete set in a kit I had the number wrote down but can not find it now. I have both a deisel and a gas UTS and a UTU the only difference to a stock U is the heads and piston between gas and diesiel if you want to you can put parts of of a 336 an the you to give it more power it will make it from a 4 1/4 bore to 4 5/8 bore

As to the motor, FWIW I have a 61 fan belt catalog that shows two lines under "UTS,UTSD": first line shows "283C-4, D283 Eng". Second line shows "283, D283 403C-4, D425-6 Eng". No years shown for either line.I"m not familiar with MM, so don"t know if any of that helpful. Good luck.

A nice running UTS sold or was bought back (I'm not sure) at an auction north of Cambridge,MN -today for $1450 restored but wrong color yellow -still nice. Also nice "ZTA" brought $800 and was bought back (or bought by the dealers brother).

I"ll be there tomorrow, If it was also bought back, I"ll ask what they really want for it. I also know of a neighbor who may have a UTS for sale. I think he still had it last fall.
