I am working on a skidloader for another guy. He brought it to me because one push rod for the valve was missing. It was nowhere to be found. I took the whole engine apart and i couldn't even find any metal filings. If the push rod did go through the engine it would have been chewed up by the cam. Looking over the engine everything looked good- pistons, rings head, valves everything. It also had very little compression on that cylinder. The engine is a briggs 23 hp v twin. THe low compression is due to a bad head gasket though. That solved the compression issue but i cant for the life of me figure out where that push rod went. All I could even think is that the filings drained out if he recently changed the oil. But I would think there would still be some filings and some damage from chewing the rod up if it did go through the engine.
