I drove a friend's Dodge with the Cummins diesel last night. Normally I would use my own truck, but it had a goose neck load of lumber on it for the new shop.
I had another gooseneck on his Dodge and went to pick up the chisel from a guy who borrowed it. Coming back a lady cut me off and I had to hit the breakes real fast. That pedal went as hard as a rock. It stopped, but it took both feet to shove the pedal down.
After that...the darn thing worked fine. What in the world would cause that?
I know my Dodge had a recall years ago on the vacume pump line to the brake booster. Could that be the problem? Has anyone else ever had this problem with a Dodge? I think it's a 96 model.
Any help is appreciated.

My 97 1-ton does the same thing in a panic stop,it's done it as long as I've had it..I suppose theres something not right with the anti-locks..stops just fine until you really stomp on'em.. Don't know what to tell ya,but it's not the only one out there that does it..

Hummm...maybe. I unpluged the anti-lock module on mine a long time ago. My dad ran trucks for years and he told me anti-lock and trailers don't mix...unless both truck and trailer are set up for anti-lock.
You are more than likely right Tim...thanks.
