What kind do you have? Gripes? Things you like?

I have 2004 Chevy Duramax Allison auto. I love it. No complaints. Chipped it and oversize tires. Gotta love the Allison!!

Not quite what you had in mind, but I thought I should chime in. I was a contractor for FedEx Home Delivery for about a year and a half-would not recommend that to anyone, by the way. Anyway, had to buy a truck. This is what I bought. 13,000 GVW, 4 cylinder Detroit diesel-turbocharged and intercooled, with the Allison five speed automatic. Yes, it was a dog from a standing start, but it was amazingly nimble once you were moving. Got 13 mpg in town or on the highway. Loved that transmission! Greg

Never buy a truck with a snow plow hanging on the front and never is a long time.

We have a pair of Power Strokes...'03 F-550 dumps for snowplowing in the winter and hauling dirt/gravel in summer..Both have had numerous turbos , both have driveability problems with surging and just flat acceleration , mostly cold..Balljoints at 40,000 miles..[ They squeaked when turning the wheels ]..And whats the deal with blowing off the turbo tube and hoses ?? Why are the tube and hoses from the aftercooler to engine loaded with oil on both trucks...I don't know what they're thinking when they engineer these trucks..I've got to the point where I'm wiring and ty-raping the hoses and tube in place so it won't blow off as often..It wasn't that many years ago , that if you bought a new truck , you could run it 40 or 50,000 miles with just oil changes..Not any more.. These Fords have been back to several dealers over the past 4 years with no chance of making us happy with them..State Bid is a wonderfull thing..We'll probably have to settle for the same thing on the next purchases

..Both have had numerous turbos , both have driveability problems with surging and just flat acceleration , mostly cold..Probaly bad gas pedal

Balljoints at 40,000 miles....Look at whats under the hood, thats why! That engine is heavy!

whats the deal with blowing off the turbo tube and hoses ?? Why are the tube and hoses from the aftercooler to engine loaded with oil on both trucks...The engine breather is routed into the intake pipe, the elemnet in the "breather" on the valve cover needs replacings or you need to get a different method of diposing of the gases. navistar has/had a kit to d othis, about 30 bucks is what I paid for mine.
..I've got to the point where I'm wiring and ty-raping the hoses and tube in place so it won't blow off as often..Again this kit will fix that, but you might be just as well to replace the boots and clamps.

..It wasn't that many years ago , that if you bought a new truck , you could run it 40 or 50,000 miles with just oil changes..Not any more.. Yes you can, if you take care of it properly.I have 70000 there anbouts on my 01 and it has had nothing more than normal maintenance, with exception to front brakes which goes back to what I said about how heavy the engine is!

Now if both have the 6 leaker, then your problems sound normal to me.

"02" F-350 1ton dump w/9' Fisher plow bought new.
not one engine, drive train, or suspension prob.
Roy my guess would be that you are not the only person driving your trucks. When I was young and dumb about 18-19 yrs, old working for an electrical contractor. They had a 1973 3/4 ton chevy van with a "69" 350 cu in. corvete engine. Original one died early in life. Go figure. You could load that thing up with gear and you could still smoke the tires at will.
Now I'm not saying that that is what anyone driving your trucks is doing, but I'll bet that they're not getting driven like if you we're driving them yourself.

01 F350 7.3 Superduty Lariat Dually, DP Tuned (40,80,120, GET THE H*&^ OUT OF MY WAY 160 tunes) BTS Tranny, and my own custom goodies.

Only thing I really dont like is the price of diesel, when I got it its was 1.25.
The one thing I do like is leaving the kids in there tuners in black smoke.Seriously I like my truck for more than that, it hauls whatever I want, whenever I want, wherever I want.
