It's the best I can do.

Still needs a bath, but I'm calling this tractor job over. Everything works as it should and that's a really good thing in my world, at my age. :>)

Thanks Gary!

Allan

Beautiful job! I saw your photos a couple days ago. Went to a auction today- they sold a cab like this -one side window missing but in good condition for $85. Boy was I temped to take on the same job as you. Nice tractor!!

Great job, Allan! Looks like it came from the factory that way. Wish I had a cab on my Ford when I'm out feeding in the winter!

Great Job. Looks like new, Amazing what body and mind working in harmony can accomplish. I only wish I.H. would have had some keen minds like you working for them in their day as they would still be going strong today. Love to have my 1468 and your 966 working or playing together in a field someday!! Or now that I have my 966 redone if you really miss that cab this summer I can bring mine over and you can put some hours on it for me. Needs to be worked hard for a while to keep that slobbering down to a minimum. Bet you would be amazed how close these two tractors are.Migraine

Hard to believe that cab was on this tractor a few months ago.

The tractor and cab are now 750 miles from each other.

In 25 years from now when Allan and I are gone they will say how the heck did the cab from this tractor end up in western Neb.

I happy with what I got I hope Allan is also.

You're rippin' my heart out! Boy, do I ever miss that 1066. :>)

Tell ya Gary, you bet I'm happy and if it wouldn't have been for you I never would have even considered this route.

Might have just plopped on an old Year-Around on 'er and cussed it for the next few years. :>)

I really do appreciate you coming up with the idea on this deal. You went over and above and I'll never forget it.

Gary,

Have you still got that picture of the tractor coming up your road at 6am on the trailer that cold morning?

That was one great shot!

Yep,

That's the one. I worried and fretted over that tractor and the young lad making it down there safe and sound.

When I saw that picture, it was like someone just took a burden off my shoulders. :>)

I got 'er saved now!

Allen, man that looks nice! My granddad and dad were/are die hard allis fans, but when we lived in North Dakota my dad helped the farmers, who mostly had red tractors. He does speak fondly about them! Greg

Hi Allan; Been awhile but just got on and seen the completed tractor. Looking real good, maybe to good to get dirty. lol A parade tractor- ha, just kidding. I see a black stripe 1066 in Rush City MN that needs some of your TLC on the Photo Ads. You will be one "cool, dry, clean dude" this year. Bob

This year will be a "white collar", white shirt, hay makin', easy year.

However, management informed me last night that it was time fer me to get back into the cowboy mode and get some horses back under saddle. And, please do it right away.

I hate the taste of dirt! :>(

Absolutely impressive..... .Thanks for keeping us updated as you made progress.

A review on the A/C, was it in the cab to begin with? My Year-round has no A/C but I sure do want to quiet it down and it looks like A/C would be mandatory in order to do that. I am wondering what the cheapest way out would be to accomplish that?

Hi Old Friend,

Gotta tell ya, I think the "easiest and cheapest" way would probably be to just add one of these newer self-contained units that are on the market nowadays.

I'm such a stickler for originality, but believe me, it takes a wheel-barrow full of sheckels to bring the old dudes back from the brink.

Yes, Gary's cab had the original IH A/C system.

I converted it over to R-134a and updated the compressor to a newer style just 'cause I don't wanna be foolin' with the thing for another 30 years or so. :>)

Yes, the cab and the 966 really looks nice. I'm into JD now but in college I drove a 966 for the canning company one summer. It had a digger on the 3pt and a pea drill behind that. It was a really nice tractor. Paul in WI.

Forgot to ask, is it as quite as you expected it too be with all the sound proofing you used? My 1466 is hard on the ears, thinking of using some of your ingenuity to tame it down some, take care.

I'm getting a low-pitched exhaust noise and it's coming in thru that cab filter. I'm going to town tomorrow to get a muffler extension built to try and stop it.

Otherwise, it has totally lost that IH rattly, hammery, "Klattery" sound and the hydraulic "sing" is non-existant now. Don't think it is as quiet as my Powerstroke with the windows up, but it's awfully darned close.

I'm really pleased with it 'cause I don't have to wear those darned ear protectors anymore. They always gave me a headache after three or four hours of "squeezin' on my head". :>)

Boy, I dunno.

After I got that roof panel put back on and cinched down that insulator to separate the air, the darned A/C was blowin' a strong 33 degrees.

Kept thinkin' 'bout those 113 degree days that we had last summer. :>)
