Burn Kerosene in diesel engine?

I have a little over 5 gallons of kerosene left over from a garage heater. The instructions that came with the heater say not to store the kerosene over a season, then try to burn it.

Can I mix it with diesel and run it in a new JD sub-compact, or 1955 Oliver? What are my options for this fuel? Ignore the heater instructions?

I used to drive for a oil co. We delivered to New Jersey Transit 100% kerosene to run the buses on. They had GM diesels in the buses.I do not know what type of injection pumps the had. They had no problums at all.
I would not worry about putting 5 gal in the tractor.

Often done in England, kero about 20pence/litre road diesel about 1 pound/litre, dont do rotary injector pumps a lot of good, should be ok as a mix, and you will soon use up 5 U.S. gallons anyway.

I leave my space heater full all summer and plug it in the next winter runs no problem that Krosene is to expensive to waste.

You can run it at a 50% mix with no problems - but you don't know how much your pump-fuel already has in it.

10 years?? I've used kerosene and diesel over 10 years old with no ill effects whatsover.

It would be easy to run thru the tractor. I wouldn't mix in more than 30% and probably stick to around 10-20%. If you run on straight kerosene, might not be enough lubrication for a rotary style pump. However it is difficult for me to believe that the kerosene would go bad over the summer. I might move it to a cooler place (basement) this summer, but otherwise I would burn it next winter.

The basement is no place for storing Kerosene.

I run a little of it in my tractors on occassion, We use to run it in road tractors during winter due to diesel jelling and it didn't hurt them either. I alway's mix a little motor oil with it to lube fuel pump. Last year a neighbor moved out of state and gave me two barrels of kerosene and I used it to plow ground. Burned the hole 100 gallons with no problems at all.
