Been to wet here to do any tillage but I did get a little manure hauled out on Friday.

Might go this afternoon again. But no tillage yet.

Hows your area? Are they running yet?

Gary

I saw some discing just west of Ithica Mi a week ago yesterday, chiseling on the same ground yesterday. Still too slimy for any massive manure hauling on my hills and potholes 25 miles west of there.

I plowed up a little ground for a some oats and peas today. Found a couple chunks of frost, but the ground was drying out a little on top. It was dry last fall and most of the snow melted before the frost came out. As warm as it is, this might be the only chance they get. South central Minnesota.

Not now during mud season up here (Northern NY). The only plowing we are doing is snow plowing, still. had to do some last weekend.

Glennster got it correct. Wet everywhere I can see in Illinois, and temperatures are unusually warm at least in the middle and lower regions. Seventies thru Friday. If it wasn't so wet, there would be corn planted at least in the south and low middle areas this week, which is unusually early.

Some planted oats end of Feb. and earlier this month and were shredding cotton stalks but after weekend rains it's all stopped again.

Dry up in the southwest corner of ND. A few people are planting spring wheat, but not many. Dad worked some manure under that was spread last fall and couldn't find much for mud - but there is still frost under the straw piles and on hillsides.

He was hoping to start planting the end of this week, but it looks like maybe there will be rain/snow to contend with... and he will greatly welcome the moisture!

NY fields - deer doing the field work - photos in reply to IaGary, 03-26-2007 04:53:15
Ground just thawed here in central New York. Upper fields almost bare, lower fields sill have a two feet of snow in places. Only work being done in the fields is by the deer and turkey. I walked my fields this morning - where I could - found a few deer that died over the winter - and a lot of live ones. They are pretty hungry. Upper fields were planted in buckwheat last year - but I think the turkeys picked it all clean. The deer are almost climbing the spruce and cedar trees and eating the needles.

Nothing moving yet and it could be awhile. Here in this part of central IL there is water in some fields and ditches with a chance of rain 4 out of the next 7 days. No one has turned a wheel, no one. The guys with NH3 to put on are getting nervous. On a normal year some guys would start to plant april 1 or before and on the 15th every planter would be in the field. I dont know if that can happen this year. It is warm, the grass is turning green and the lakes are full. At this point it is impossible to even walk accross the fields much less spread manure or sow oats. Still, better wet than a drought. bill

Folks here in NW Ga. are planting corn. We need some rain, so dry it's hard to see the tractor for the dust.

Those with sandy soil here in South Jersey have started to till the ground. As for me and my clay,I'll have to wait a few more weeks untill the days are longer and warmer. You can work this clay, but, you have to work it when it is ready.

Little bit of spring wheat here and there. I think this week will see some action as is it just now getting to the point where the ground is now "workable".

This is gonna be an easy year for me; just put up some hay and break a bunch of horses. :>)

Gary,
Still too wet in SW PA. We are to get more rain today and Wed. At least it is getting warmer and getting greener too. I'm doing my planting now in the greenhouse.
