Think my tractor is trying to tell me it is time to get back to the field and quit all this silly wrench trunin' and putzin' around.

She's gonna fog for a little bit. :>)

While you're talking about diesel smoke, as anyone noticed that it just doesn't smell the same anymore?

Yeah, I know it's better for the environment and all but it's just not the same since they took all the "good" stuff out of it.

When I was a kid back in the 60's I'd ride with dad on our Super 88 diesel when he plowed. We had a #8 IHC 3-14 plow and we could run in 4th gear (about 5.5 mph) in Tama/Muscatine soil (92-100 CSR) about 7 inches deep. When we would get off the flat and into the clay knobs the black smoke just rolled which I always thought was cool. I actually enjoyed the smell of the smoke back then, however strange that sounds. Just not the same anymore. Sure wish I could go back and make one more round with dad..... ...

I've never really had any trouble with wet-stacking any of our tractors - I usually start them at slow idle for 30 seconds to a minute and then up to around 1200 if they are going to sit for more than a couple minutes. Gotta keep the heat in them!

Of course, nothing better sounding than our 1086 yesterday in the field with the 26 foot chisel plow (12" sweeps) pulling away with the straight pipe! I love freshly worked dirt in the spring!

I want to see that old heifer in an action photo with BLACK smoke coming out!

That is why i like the 706 gassers for winter chore work and we can get the High Test gas for less then diesel , we don't have to worry about plugen it in . If it was not for my one buddy getting into a bad wreck with his family and needing seirous help the diesels would have still been in the shed but his lagoon was about to run over and spill out onto the state highway a bunch of us went up to empty it in one day lots of good folks lots of tractors and speader so had to get all the big tractors up and running was sorta a good day and a bad day as that was the day my old Range pick up decided to die wright there in the shed still ain't got that figured out.

I hear ya,

Last year, I used my 310 to rake hay with. Even with that, it didn't get to wet-stackin', but still, I could see a faint touch of smoke in the exhaust from the light-duty chores.

Darned things just like to work hard and no dilly-dallyin' around. :>)

Morning Allan

Hey I don't believe we have seen a picture from a distance with that white cab full of glass yet.

But maybe I missed it been in and out so darn much I can't remember.

Lemme get these lights mounted, on/aimed and I'll take a couple of pictures of it before I take it out and get it good and dirty again. :>)

Right now, the old heifer looks like it just rolled off the delivery truck, but that sure won't last long. :>)

We have mostly all Case's here and don't have that problem. Keep them idling around 1000 rpm's or higher and that may take care of some of the oozing.

Yeah,

I've been starting and stopping this old tractor all winter since November; haven't ran it for over 5 minutes for any one time and just haven't got it up to temp since I brought it in here from the farm.

Oh well, it kept me out of the pool hall. :>)
