I am getting anxious for their return. Just wondering how much longer it will be. I am about 60 miles north of St. Louis. Thanks to any replies.

Mine (I claim them anyway) have been here since Valentine's day. I have 20 gourds up. I don't know how many are nesting but they're swarming:) Oh, that's south Ga.

I shot a couple dozen yesterday, cooked them up, they tasted kind of like spotted owl. Maybe a little bit like Bald Eagle, just depends on how you prepare and cook them..... ..

Just kidn, thought that might get your attention..... havent seen any around here yet in the kansas city area

None in Maryland yet, my father loves them. The rest of the local birds are singing today though.

no, wish I did. Have six Bluebird boxes in PA, all get nested in, 50 percent get evicted by the Tree Swallows, who build their nest on top of the Bluebirds nest. Spring is here. good luck.

50% eviction by tree swallows? Double your number of boxes. Place the boxes two to a "territory" and your problem will cure itself. Sounds like you may already have maxed out your territory though or you would probably have more tree swallows. Aggressive but highly desirable alternative to Bluebirds. Fun to watch when the cat wanders onto their turf.
