Hey Everyone,

I happened to get a good deal on this Jeep Cherokee with many problems to
be fixed. Anyway, there was no owner's
manual with it. Unfortunately, the only
diagram for the fuse block is in the manual
(not on the plastic panel or cover).
I am trying to troubleshoot some electrical
issues. If anyone out there has one of these
would you be kind enough to send me a pictrue of the fuse panel that describes its purpose.
Even a close-up photo of that page would be
great.

Thanks and best regards,

Tim, Ohio

Let me tell you about a 2001 Cherokee.

At less than 47,000 miles, I noticed the oil pressure going to nearly zero at stop lights. Chrysler replaced the sender. Kept happening, eventually the oil pressure would go to zero at lights and the idiot light would come on. Chrysler replaced the oil pump. No help. I did an oil change and sent a sample to Blackstone Labs. Blackstone sent the oil report back and said DO NOT OPERATE this engine until it was looked at. Oil was heavily contaminated with anti-freeze which was eating up the bearings causing the low oil pressure.

Chrysler short blocked the engine. Cost me $50 thanks to the extended warranty (first time one of those ever paid off.)

4000-miles later, the engine ate the camshaft and camshaft position sensor. They fixed that.

Now, it's going thru coolant by the gallon. Chrysler either can't or won't find where it's going. No puddles.

This is the 4.0L straight six that traces its heritage all the way back to a 1920's Nash design.

I agree with "dds" below--
Lots of people will say good things about the 4.0. My 94 Cheerokee is going on 164,000 miles and hasn't skipped a beat. I've plowed snow with it and used it as a daily driver. Changed oil every 3,500 and the color of the oil looks like it was new. Now---the body?? Don't want to talk about that. Put $1,000 into it to replace the rocker panels on both sides and the entire floor under the driver's side and new paint.

you just got a lemon, my 3 jeeps have the original engines for average of 190,000 miles apiece with the highest one a 2000 cherokee sport with 243,500 miles.

Bill,

Sorry to hear of your troubles. This is a straight 6 and it has 147,000 miles on it.
I bought it for my daughters first car. I felt
it was a good deal at $1200. The list of problems
is long, but the engine seems to be okay
at this point. Would you be able to send me a close-up photo of the fuse panel? This site
will allow you to post it in the tractor photos
gallery then copy the link to your post.

Thanks if you can. I will understand if you don't.
