Allan, I hope one day that I have a tractor so big that I have to use a step ladder to work on it.
Good luck, Wm

Wow, Allan

Really looking good.. I have the year-around cab on the 856 and getting more serious about pulling it off. Tell us again how you managed to rotate that cab by yourself without it or you being crushed. Seems like an iffy job?

"IF" the rear axle mounts have the rotator bolts, which I think the year-arounds do, it should work for you too.

First, you have to take everything loose, of course and remove any lock-down and forward mount bolts. The lower arms of the 3-point have to be off and laying down on the ground, gear shift lever in fourth, and the seat folded up.

I went to the hardware store and bought this "eye" and a 5/8", grade 8 bolt/washer. Put a come-along between the eye and tied it to the lower left hand door sill.

Took a handy-man jack under the left step and lifted/rotated it back on those rear axle pivots until the weight of the cab went over center and the come-along then had the weight hanging from that front cultivator bolt hole. Then, just a matter of letting it down on the ground from there.

Yes, it's "iffy" and damned dangerous. Be careful!

Again,

Please be careful. Those darned things are very, very heavy and could mame, injure or kill in a fraction of an eyeblink.

If you have access to a cherry picker, it would work much better than using the handy-man jack. Would give you more positive control when the weight of that dude decides to go "over center".

It's kind of a nail-biter at that point. In both directions; coming off and going on.

Allan

Yup, I hear you and looking at the pictures again and my tractor, when the times comes, I think I will park it between two box trailers and using block and tackle pick it up and drive out from under it. Still, I am impressed that you managed to rotate it.

Lookin' good Allan! You've been kind of quiet lately, so I figured we would see some progress on the cab project soon.

Hi Ol' John,

Aw, I had a run-in with an old mare about a week ago and she peeled me right square in the chest.

Think it must have torn some muscles loose or something 'cause I've really been in a heck of a lot of pain and haven't got a lot done here lately.

‘Bout all I do is take Ibuprofen by the handfuls and try to breathe. :>)

When that old brute came over center and I had to catch it with the handy man jack, thought maybe I was gonna have to stop and do some laundry a time or two.

It had me sweatin' bullets there for awhile; darned things are really heavy!. :>(

Good evening Allan.

I got my driver on the way to pick my cab up.

I decided I want to keep it.

We're not out of the woods yet. :>)

However, I'm really, really impressed with that Fehr cab kit.

Even with all the doors and windows out and that roof panel off, it totally killed that "Internationl, rattly, clattery, bangy" sound.

From the seat, all I can hear is the sound of the exhaust outlet and the tractor sounds exactly like the exhaust sound of Dodge pickup with a Cummins engine.

I'm gonna put an extension on the muffler to see if I can get the noise up and over the cab filter. If I can loose that danged "throaty/exhaust" sound, it's really gonna be quiet and I think I can finally do away with those ear protectors. :>)

Looks a lot like the way I put the tub back on my M38a1 military Jeep, but I used two comealongs and some degree of luck. Looks like it's going to be a good looking job when done.
