Giys, My Super C regulator is putting out a little less charge than it needs; 5.65 volts, how do I go about adjusting it? I usually send the generator and regulator out to be bench matched, but would like to avoid that this time as the generator is working fine. Thanks, Pete

Just find an old "Motors" repair manual, from the 60s. It has all the procedures you need.

Is this a 2 brush or 3 brush generator? Also as mentioned below have the battery fully charged and a wise old generator man told me once polish the commutator before you start and make sure the brushes seat good. If a 3 brush you may just need to slide the 3rd brush.

This applies to most Delco regulators with 3 terminals but may vary for others. You can clean the regulator points some but use something very smooth and not coarse grit paper and don't file off too much just clean them. Points gap for most regulators is about .020". Usually with the 3 regulator terminals on outside facing you the coil on left is the cut out relay. It is adjusted to where it closes at 6.4V or 12.8V with 12V system. The coil on RH side has a screw behind it and is adjusted for voltage usually CW to increase or CCW to decrease for about 6.9V or 14V with 12V system. The armature air gap on that coil should be about .075" holding gap closed while adjusting screws. As said if battery is bad or not up to full charge or wiring bad or you didn't polarize system after connections were made before starting all this is usless and there were many different regulators so this is an example only and settings may not apply to all. If has a relay instead of a true regulator you will have to adjust one of the generator brushes to increase charging some. That has been covered hundreds of times on here in posts and in YT stories and tips.

First charge the battery till it is fully charged. (must do) Then start the C and check the voltage. If it is about 7 volts you are good. If less (like 6.2 or so it is not charging. Then adjust the voltage reg. JimN
