I am looking into consolidating tractors into one main work one. There is a Kubota MX5000 model that they have. Its 50hp engine, 44hp PTO. I can really use 4x4 because new fields we are working are wet soft meadeaw. I have a 30 acre property, 15acres in fields, 15 in trees. And a long driveway to snow plow. In the fields I use small disks, 2 bottom IH plow, a brush cutter, a 4' rototiller etc. I use them on my Super 55. These fit the MX 5000 well. But I also make squares bales with a 7' haybine (477NH) and bale with a smallish 276 NH baler. I use my 720 diesel for that. I want to restore the 720, so I need some time, many months.

My main question is does the 44HP PTO of the Kubota cover off the needs of the haying implements? I dont bale fast, I bale slow with the 276, it seems to work better. I dont tow a wagon. I may be in soft fields where i need the 4x4 to get my butt out and that is why I am looking for light 4x4.

Thanks

Real good tractor, basically a lighter version of the M4900/M4800SU. The front half is M series, the back is L series. I have an M4700 That I do everthing you are talking about with except I pull a 9' haybine, and used to pull a hesston 5500 round baler, it was a load, but it could do it. I traded down on th round baler and now have a Case/IH 8420 which makes a 3.5'X4.5' bale and that works better. For the slight extra cost I'd go to the M4800SU, its a heavier tractor and you'll not break it doing any of the things you have described. I have done lot more with mine and it is only 42pto hp.

The new rig should work fine for everything you want to do. I think the haybine needs slightly more power than the baler, but anything over 40 horse should work fine. The only drawback of having only one tractor for haying is constantly changing implements. I have a 3 point disc mower and 3 point rake/tedder, so its a little more trouble than if everything was "tag a long". Sounds like you're haying only at home, which also solves the other problem- logistics of moving implements among fields away from home.

About a year or so ago I was looking at Kubotas and compared the MX5000 and the M4900. If I remember the Mx 5000 is an economy model that is quite a bit cheaper than the M4900. The rear end looks to be cheaper and lighter than the 4900. Seems like I remember that the cooling system capacity was very small on the MX5000 too. THe MX would probably do what you need.
