Anyone pressing their own oil?
I am thinking oftrying sumflowers this spring and would like any comments/suggestions.
We are going south next week if there`s someone doing this I would to see it work.

I know a guy here in Mi that is making about 2000 gallons of diesel a week from soy,on premises,but not sunflowers.

I tried a few acres a couple of years ago. The blackbirds ate my entire crop. It"s my understanding you can spray a grape seed extract on them to repel the birds, but it requires a plane to spray them. They sure were pretty growing. Many days, my field would literally be black with birds.

i know you will trouble finding an affordable press. i have been looking to press my canola and could not not come up with what i thought to be a "farm use" model that was affordable. i don't really plan on doing x-amount of tons per day nor do i want to use the ram systems that you find when doing searches on the internet. i am trying to get one built now that I should be able to retail for around 700.00. It is discouraging because machine shops seems to be a disappearing icon of the past and the government only wants to help the "big guy" there is more research being done for third world countries than here at home
