My son has above Ditch Witch with a Wisconsin 18 hp engine. Says when clutch is in, it will move, when he lets clutch out, it won't move. Engine starts fine and he can drive Ditch Witch around, but can't run the manual transmission. It just spins and makes clunking noise. Anyone have any ideas on what the problem can be and what he can do to correct it?

I'm not familiar with the model # you gave, but does it have a digging chain on it??

If so, there are two sets of controls that have to be set, so that it is in "crowd" gear for digging.

Dad's DW is an R65, so it is fairly big.

The point is - you have to have know how to set both transmissions in gear depending on what you are doing.

It took me quite a while to get his figured out...

Hi Howard, Thanks for your response. I talked to my son and he said his problem is the output shaft from the crankshaft broke loose. Now the manual transmission won't work. He put in a new roll pin and it sheared. Then he put in a new crank pilot bearing and it sheared the roll pin again. (Hope this makes sense to you because I am trying to repeat what he told me. He is in Missouri and I am in Texas. He doesn't have access to a computer so I am trying to help him, but I'm no mechanic, for sure. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. He really needs to get the Ditch Witch in good working condition.
