Did anyone ever watch the television series on PBS? I think it was during the 80's. I've read all of James Herriot's books but the show was on before my time. I found the dvd's on netflix.com and rented them. Really great show!

Own and read all the books.Just now found a replacement in hard Cover for the last Paperback I have, have all the CD series,no DVD's yet. have numerous Calenders from years gone by. Loved the show and never missed a segment when it was on Ch 11 Chicago PBS. a few years ago. Was just reading the Story tonight where James called upon Mrs.Pumphrey and Trickie woo and she gave him a lustrious Suit of her deceased Husband.LOL. This Story is in the book"Every Living Thing". Really enjoy the Storys very much.John

What a coincidence. I just finished watching Series 6 Disc 3, the last series they made in 1989. Just turned off the CD player and went to YT for a quick fix and saw your post.

After having read all the books, we also rented the series from Netflix and have been spellbound with every episode. I won't know what to do when its over. Move to the Dales straight away I guess..... Love those stonewalls !

I think WCET (48 Cincinnati) just announced that they were putting All Creatures Great and Small back into their schedule.

I'm really glad other folks enjoy the show too! Here's a link to amazon.com where you can buy em. Not cheap by any means but worth the money I think.

They were my favorite, I watched every story, time and again untill PBS quit running the series.

I watched nearly every episode when the series first began. Asked my wife to get the CD series at Borders(they aren"t cheap). I have been watching the episodes again over the past couple of days. They truly are classics and make me laugh all the time still today. This series is a must see for all you guys.

It started on the BBC in 1978, brilliant show, have now got most of the first 2 series on vidieo, just get homesick now looking at the Yorkshire scenery
