update on the 301 a deere

thats guys for the info on the hydraulic fluid, i got 15 gallons of hy guard on the floor, new hydraulic filter and an oil filter. finaly got her running. coil was bad, somebody put a 6v coil on it, no resistor, zoomed over to napa, got a gm 12v coil and a chrysler b-body ballast resistor, running pretty good, front hydraulic pump is rattling, i.m thinking it may be going bad, are they rebuildable or just replace, heres some photos. oh yeah, just put new tires on the front too!!!!

I think the screen comes out the right side should be a plug on the left side also take it out then you can work the screen out just trash has it lock up on out side of screen Don

I don't understand. If its 12 volts a ballast resister reduces the voltage to 6 volts and your now using a 12 volt coil. It should produce a reduced spark.

I had the pump rebuilt on a 302A diesil last year. Parts were kind of pricey from mother Deere. Dont know were eles to get parts though.

Might be just the coupler on the front pump. Those do get wear in them, and then it will rattle.

rusty, i have all the hydraulic fluid drained, its real milky, i pulled the side plug out to remove the screen in the rear by the hydraulic filter, the screen seems to be stuck in there, is there something that holds it in or does it just pop out? i tried to order the manual from deere, but its discontinued.

thanks for your help, i'll post over on the deere forum and see how to get that rascal out. was thinkin bout the slide hammer.....nah....bad idea!!!
