What network was that on anyway? I've seen it adveritzed. I went through the guide on Direct TV several times looking for something to watch and still missed it.

I used to think I was smarter than a fifth grader but after I recently looked at a bunch of algerbra and calc equations I am pretty sure I can't even remember most of it. Unless you use it you loose it! I remember my brother working on his car once saying, righty tighty, lefty loosie! I laugh every time I think about that now.

Ever watch J walk on the to night show? The age group will be next to have jobs and take over. The level of education retained is about zero. Is the education today dummied down?

The one about straw on the boot reminds me of boot camp. The ones unable to figure out left or right the DI would have them fill up all pockets on that side with rocks many rocks at ft Bliss and also carry a large rock in their hand.

TV today is an adult baby setter. Passes the time for inmates.

During our other Civil War, recruits on both sides, when learning their march drills had straw tied around one foot and hay around the other because many did not know left from right. Instead of the DI calling out “Left-Right, Left-Right” he said “Straw Foot-Hay Foot, Straw Foot-Hay Foot”. (Note; may be on final)

I saw part of it.
The show won't last more than one season.

farmerboy,

I haven't had a TV for many years, so I didn't see the show. I'll bet it was interesting though.

My wife is a high school English teacher. Many of her students don't know what "clock-wise" or "counter clock-wise" mean since they can't read an analog clock.

Times, they are a changing ain't they?

Some had throttle and spark advance on each side of the steering column, others had them both on the same side, still others had the throttle on the steering column and the spark advance on a dashboard lever. Is a fifth grader supposed to know this? I'm a fifth grader, I grade a fifth of Wild Turkey as decent, and Johnny Walker Black Label just a bit above that. One of my favorite activities is grading fifths.

Did not see the show. How much time do 5th graders have to study this stuff. We could all probably ace the test if we had some time for review.
We were talking about cars from the 40"s-60"s. I asked a younger fellow where was the headlight dimmer switch befre they put it on the steering colume. He finally replied,"They didnt have one"
Well,it was on the floor to the left of the clutch.

I wish it was still there. I have three cars and it is hard to remember which ones you pull and which ones you push to bring the high beams on.

Then, did he want to know why a car would have a clutch in it. So many kids today only know how to drive an automatic. R

My brother-in-law went to the Richard Petty racing school in Fl. where you get to take 8 laps around a NASCAR track @ 140mph. After a short schooling, the 8 would be drivers got in line. After 3 got done the line got shorter when a man in his 40's got out of line proclaiming,"I thought the cars were automatics, I don't know how to drive a stick."
